I don't remember how to search for journal articles for psychology

I was looking on psychinfo but it also lists a lot of articles that aren't readily available. Is there another way to search for articles that are available? Also, if I see an article that I like and it's not available through a PDF, how would do I request it?

Answer

Thank you for your question.  In terms of requesting an item we don't have available, you can place an interlibrary loan request.  Here's a link to Interlibrary Loan (ILL) info page:

https://libguides.oldwestbury.edu/oldwestburyill

There's no charge for Old Westbury students to place ILL requests.  You'll receive the article typically within a few days or possibly hours.  For articles, you'll get an email with a prompt to log-in to your Interlibrary Loan account to access the account and download the pdf.

There is also a "Get Full Text" Link.  If you click on that and don't get the article, you should see prompts for Interlibrary Loan.  We also have video tutorials for Linksource and Interlibrary Loan available:

In terms of located psychology articles, try searching PsycInfo:

If you need the articles right away (and ILL isn't fast enough), try narrowing your search to "linked full-text".  You could also try "Science Direct - Psychology".  Here's a link that's available through our Psychology Libguide:

You could also try searching for psychology articles through some multi-disciplinary databases such as Academic Search Complete.  A link to Academic Search Complete is also available through our Psychology Libguide:

If you need any additional help with searching, please let us know.

Best regards,
